A Complement to Chiropractic

At Ballard Chiropractic Clinic, we understand there are several benefits from combining chiropractic care and massage therapy. Both work together to enhance their effect, resulting in a much faster recovery time.

Adjustments to the spine are made easier when muscles are loosened first by massage therapy. Our experience also shows that vertebral alignment lasts longer when muscles are less tense along the spine. Some prefer massage therapy after their chiropractic adjustments that helps to ease any soreness and stimulates circulation to promote healing.

Both offer hands-on, drug-free techniques as preventative and restorative therapies. Used in combination, they may help you maintain optimum health and wellness.

Our team has helped patients with numerous musculoskeletal issues, including professional athletes, dancers, senior citizens, women who are pregnant and who are recovering from childbirth, arthritis sufferers, those working on the computer all day, and so many more.

Types of Massage Offered

Our licensed massage therapists are skilled in many techniques to provide you with the best possible care. These include the following:

Relaxation

A uniquely relaxing therapeutic type that’s flexible enough to accommodate your individual needs. It combines several techniques designed to soothe and recharge you.

Swedish

One of the most common types of massages you can get. It’s designed to energize the body and improve overall health.

Myofascial Release

Provides sustained pressure on myofascial restrictions from physical trauma, scarring, or inflammation to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Lymphatic

A form of gentle bodywork that encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body. The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from tissues in the body.

Neuromuscular Reeducation

A series of movements and techniques designed to restore neuromuscular function by reinforcing the communication between muscle groups and nerves.
Deep Tissue

Focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas.

Sports

Focuses on the muscles relevant to your particular athletic activity. May enhance pre- and post events, improve flexibility, prevent injuries, and prepare athletes to compete at their best.

Trigger Point

These areas of tenderness or “knots” often refer pain to other parts of the body. Our therapist applies gentle but firm pressure directly to these points and massages the surrounding areas to customize your massage and release the muscle.

Himalayan Hot Salt Stone

An innovative healing technique using warm salt crystal stones to ground and balance the body’s electromagnetic field, central nervous system and meridians.

Cupping

Used for back problems and other general aches and pains throughout the body including the arms and legs, to help reduce inflammation, increase blood flow, and relax the mind and body.
Prenatal

This technique is tailored to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Massage during pregnancy helps ease stress on the back, neck, shoulders, and abdominal muscles. It also helps relax, reduce anxiety, and supplement your total prenatal care.

Infant

A specialized form of light touch massage similar to Swedish Massage. It’s often used in neonatal hospital units and has been helpful with the thriving and survival of premature infants.

Clinical

Combines a variety of Eastern and Western techniques to help reduce, eliminate, or manage pain, increase range of motion, improve posture and help with relaxation.
